JOB PURPOSE:

Reporting to the Director of Operations as a part of the Executive team, the Lean Manufacturing Production Manager will oversee all daily operations of the plant ensuring policies and procedures are followed. They develop processes that will maximize stewardship, safety, quality and productivity.

Direct Reports:  General Manufacturing Supervisor and all Plant Supervisors

 

Lean Production Manager Responsibilities:

  • Directs and manages all plant operations in accordance with Company KPIs.
  • Coordinates all plant activities by working with Production Team and Departmental Managers to ensure that total manufacturing objectives are accomplished in a timely, cost effective and efficient manner using LEAN manufacturing processes.
  • Develops, controls, plans, and implements the plant budget to maximize profits by utilizing Continuous Improvement initiatives.
  • Implements cost effective systems of control over operating expenditures, manpower, and manages capital asset/improvement projects.
  • Establishes and monitors overall plant performance for safety, production and quality standards, working closely with CI Manager, Quality Control, HR and Safety.
  • Controls and minimizes labor overtime, premium freight and repair expenses.
  • Works closely with R&D in testing and implementing new materials and product lines.
  • Coordinates plant and production activities through strategic planning with President and Group Managers to ensure that total manufacturing objectives are aligned in accordance with the company’s Mission Statement and KPIs.
  • Oversees the implementation of safety and preventative maintenance programs, incorporating and driving safety procedures and plant cleanliness as a priority.
  • Incorporates shop floor organization with applicable Process Engineering personnel, to ensure production processes are fluid, efficient, and effective.
  • Provides leadership and training to accomplish corporate goals/objectives/KPIs.
  • Provides direction, development and leadership to managerial personnel.
  • Hires, trains, develops and appraises staff effectively. Supports teams, taking corrective actions as necessary and in a timely manner, in accordance with company policy.

 

Lean Production Manager Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Engineering or a related field preferred, and at least seven (7) to ten (10) years’ experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in the door and window industry is an asset
  • Experience working with consumer, dealer and contractor customers is beneficial
  • Advanced knowledge of raw materials, preferably wood, mills, vinyl, or other similar products.
  • Advanced knowledge and experience in production and manufacturing process improvement techniques including, but not limited to, Safety, Quality, Lean and CI initiatives and methodologies.
  • LEAN manufacturing and/or production process experience a must.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and manufacturing related schematics.
  • Strong knowledge of business, finance, quality control systems and standards.
  • Advanced leadership, interpersonal, technical aptitude, and problem-solving skills, and the ability to lead and drive manufacturing process improvement techniques through the production process in a skillful and deliberate manner.
  • A team player, and the ability to coach and mentor managerial personnel, and instill company Mission and cultural values in all plant personnel.
  • Superior motivational skills and the ability to train and drive CI methods and initiatives to be carried out by managers and subordinate personnel.
  • Fundamental knowledge of engineering principles and practices.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills that fosters inclusivity of corporate personnel and managers, and all manufacturing staff.
  • Advanced understanding of company KPIs, corporate goals, and profit margins and objectives.
  • Advanced knowledge of management principles and practices.
  • Thorough knowledge of accounting, purchasing and related disciplines.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from corporate, groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and ability to learn and train staff in other position and company software applications.
  • Strong knowledge of OHSA health and safety standards, construction and industrial establishment regulations, and how they apply to the manufacturing plant and company practices.

Job Purpose:

The Procurement and Inventory Manager will oversee all daily activity related to monitoring the company’s inventory and its consumption. Our successful candidate will have a passion for seeking out solutions, create excellent beneficial relationships with suppliers and be proficient at controlling inventory and have an in depth product knowledge of raw material, WIP and finished goods. ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Planning, organizing, directing and running optimum day-to-day operations to align with customers’ expectations
  • Negotiate with vendors to secure advantageous pricing and terms
  • Approve the ordering of all necessary goods and services
  • Responsible for the control all receipts of goods
  • Develop and support systems and processes that track purchases and consumption of materials designed to control and minimize operating inventory amounts
  • Drive our Lean initiatives and continuous improvement within the department
  • Recruit, manage and develop purchasing and procurement staff as required

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND OTHER ATTRIBUTES:

  • Demonstrated competency in a similar work function
  • Proven work experience in inventory and resource management
  • Proven ability for team building, decision making and people management skills
  • Experience in Lean principles
  • Knowledge of business and management principles such as budgeting, strategic planning, resource allocation and human resources
  • Current knowledge of safety, quality, productivity, inventory and stewardship processes
  • Proficient in the use of computer applications and software including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), MRP Systems
  • Ability to create accountability and lead by example
  • Experience of ERP introduction would be an advantage

 

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • College or University Degree preferred in related field
  • 3+ years in a Purchasing Manager Role or equivalent
  • Certified Supply Chain Management Professional (CSCMP) Designation is a plus
