** Update: The program has successfully reached its goal of 250,000 registered homeowners. As planned, the program is no longer accepting new registrations. To help ensure registered homeowners have time to get their post-retrofit evaluations and receive a grant, the Government of Canada is extending the deadline to June 30, 2012, for homeowners to complete post-retrofit evaluations and apply for a grant. All retrofit renovations must still be completed by March 31, 2012. Replace your windows and doors and take advantage of this grant offered by the Canadian* and Ontario government! The federal and provincial governments have renewed incentives for homeowners to renovate their homes and to renovate with energy efficiency in mind. *Effective March 31, 2012, the federal government is no longer accepting bookings for pre-retrofit evaluations for the ecoENERGY Retrofit program. If you have already completed or booked the pre-retrofit evaluation you are still eligible for the grants. If you haven't, you can apply for grants under the Home Energy Savings Program offered by the Ontario government. Here's whats involved for both the ecoENERGY Retrofit and Home Energy Savings programs: When renovating, make your home more energy efficient and you can be eligible for a grant from the government. Book an Energy Audit with an NRCan-certified energy advisor, the advisor will visit your home and evaluate your home's current efficiency level and will leave you with a detailed report outlining ways you can improve your home. To find a qualified Energy Advisors in your area click here. Complete your renovation, including replacing your windows and doors with newer, more energy efficient models. Finally, within 18 months of your pre-retrofit evaluation (and before March 31, 2012), schedule a follow-up appointment with your energy advisor and the advisor will apply for the grants on your behalf.
