Replace your windows and doors and take advantage of the Federal Tax Credit for Energy Efficiency! On February 17, 2009 a stimulus bill was signed that made some significant changes to the energy efficiency tax credit. Some of the changes were: There is no longer a $200 cap on windows The tax credit that was effective for 2009 has been extended to 2010 The tax credit has been raised from 10% to 30% The tax credit that was for a specific dollar amount has been converted to 30% of the cost The maximum credit has been raised from $500 to $1500 for the two years (2009-2010) Credit applies to the cost of the product only and do not include installation Consumers must receive a Manufacturer’s Certification Statement to qualify To take advantage of the Federal Tax Credit, follow these easy steps: Purchase your replacement windows or doors*, into your principal residence, between January 1, 2009 and December 31, 2010 Save your receipts and the ENERGY STAR label from your windows and doors Print off a copy of the manufacturers certification statement that relates to the products you purchased » Manufacturers Certification Statement Claim the improvements on your 2009 taxes (use IRS Tax Form 5695 – 2009 version) * To be eligible for the tax credit, windows and doors must achieve: A U-factor of less than or equal to 0.30, and A Solar Heat Gain Coefficient (SHGC) of less than or equal to 0.30 For more information on the Federal Tax Credit for Energy Efficiency: » Visit the ENERGY STAR website (www.energystar.gov/taxcredits) † Many Pollard Windows products qualify for the credit but it is the purchasers’ responsibility to review and adhere to all IRS guidelines.
