Patio doors are heat guzzlers in the winter. And in the summer they help to frustrate our efforts to cool down our homes. With these challenges in mind, Pollard Windows, an Ontario-based manufacturing firm, has designed a patio door that is an elegant solution to our heating and cooling blues. The Liberty E-Series Vistador combines energy-efficiency with the beauty of a wood door. The large area of insulated glass gives homeowners a panoramic view and its sliding screen door allows plenty of fresh air in. “What makes this door unique is the use of Low-E Argon-filled insulated glass and an Intercept® spacer for greater energy savings,” says U.S. Sales Manager, Gary Pollard. All Low-E glass provides superior insulation. Pollard Window’s Low-E glass is Solarban® 60 and according to Pollard, that sets his product apart from others. Pollard also points out that the addition of the warm edge spacer unit increases the product’s condensation resistance. The Liberty E-Series Vistador is ideal for kitchens, walkouts, decks, patios or porches and for spaces that do not allow room for a swinging door. The sliding door is available in two lite and four lite combinations. Matching side lites are also available. The four lite configuration is engineered with an aluminum extruded sash connector to reinforce the sash and eliminate the need for an astragal. Pollard notes that the door has several other features that make it a superior product: • Adjustable precision bearing stainless steel rollers allow the doors to slide smoothly. • Interlocking checkrail is extruded aluminum which adds strength to the sash. • Checkrail bubble weather-strip on each side creates a solid seal to keep the elements out. • An improved sill weep hole cover facilitates drainage during rainstorms. • Security Locking mechanism is two-point lock for added security. Liberty E-Series Vistador’s maintenance-free vinyl exterior is available in four standard Colours (Pearl White, Autumn Ivory, Silversand, Cocoa Brown), 12 applied colours or virtually any custom colour finish.
