What sizes of vinyl windows do you offer? Can I order custom?

What kind of damage are vinyl windows at risk for? Will they warp?

Pollard Windows all vinyl and vinyl clad wood windows are extremely durable and are resistant to peeling, cracking, warping, roting or fading. Thanks to their moisture-resistant, air-tight design and durable materials, regular basic maintenance will keep your vinyl windows lasting for decades.

How do I prevent and remove condensation on vinyl windows?

When your windows are properly installed and sealed, it minimizes heating and cooling loss, which is one of the main causes of condensation.

Here are some other tips to stop condensation from forming on your windows:

  • Use an exhaust fan in kitchens and bathrooms, where a lot of moisture is often present
  • Turn off humidifiers when they are not needed
  • Make sure that rooms are well ventilated and that nothing is obstructing ventilation sources
  • Allow air to circulate freely throughout your home every day
  • Ventilate clothes dryers and cooking appliances to direct moisture outside
  • Hang-dry clothing outside whenever possible

How can I clean the vinyl frame on my windows? What should I use?

Mix together a mild dish detergent and water solution and use a soft cloth to clean vinyl windows without damaging the surface. After washing, rinse the windows with clean water. For grease, mildew and other stubborn stains, use a household cleaner like Fantastik®, and rinse thoroughly. Wipe the window frames with a soft, non-abrasive cloth.

What other regular maintenance will I need to provide my vinyl windows?

Regular maintenance will help keep your Pollard Windows & Door products looking like new! You should inspect the caulking on the exterior perimeter of your windows and patio doors at least once per year. The regular maintenance and lubrication of your windows’ moving parts will help prolong their lifespan. For best results, do not clean glass when it is exposed to direct sunlight. Vinyl windows are made of PVC, and don’t require any painting. Pollard Windows offers vinyl windows in four standard neutral shades to match your home, as well as many other customizable colours. Painting the vinyl voids the warranty for Pollard Windows & Doors products.

Can I tint my vinyl windows?

Tinting your windows can reduce the effects of the sun by preventing the UV radiation from entering your space. Pollard’s Commercial Window Replacement & Installation service includes tinting as a glazing option.

How are vinyl windows better than wood?

Vinyl windows offer many advantages over wood – most notably the minimal maintenance that is required of vinyl windows. Because of exposure to the elements, wood windows need to be sanded, re-stained & coated or re-painted every few years. Vinyl windows are resistant to rotting, peeling & fading. Meaning their appearance will outlast wood. From an energy perspective, vinyl is superior to wood since the extruded frames of vinyl windows are hollow, allowing for foam insulation and therefore increased energy efficiency above wood windows.

How are vinyl windows better than aluminum?

The finish on vinyl windows is made from PVC and doesn’t require painting, which means these windows require nearly no maintenance. On average, vinyl windows are about 30% less expensive than aluminum windows. Vinyl windows also provide outstanding insulation and ENERGY STAR ratings in comparison to aluminum windows.

How are vinyl windows better than fiberglass?

Vinyl windows are similar in energy efficiency when compared to fiberglass windows. Fiberglass windows are more rigid and are a slightly better insulator but they come at a premium, the generally cost 30 % more than vinyl windows. A well-made vinyl frame with an ENERGY STAR qualified glazing will have be very energy efficient and have a better return on investment.
